Non Plus Ultra Very Rare

42% vol.

Using old casks requires a lifetime of knowledge in the art of blending. The old casks used for Non Plus Ultra Series are burned longer than usual which means that the blend can penetrate deeper into the wood grain that has never been in contact with alcohol before. The carefully selected rum used in this blend in combination with these matured superior designer casks is the secret to the unique Non Plus Ultra taste. Nothing is left to chance, not the beautifully faceted carafe, not the deep glow, and certainly not the enjoyment you will experience when you try your first taste. This is truly world-class. Its Non Plus Ultra - Very Rare with a very rich and creamy taste of caramel and vanilla, and a nose of moscavado sugar and orange zest.

Magic in many ways

Non Plus Ultra means ‘nothing further beyond’ in Latin. An expression said to have been engraved on the Pillars of Hercules, as a warning to mark the boundary between the known and unknown world in the Strait of Gibraltar. A.H. Riise Non Plus Ultra “Very Rare” is likewise found on the border between the known and unknown; only the very best drops from aged rum barrels are used to create this ultimate blend from A.H. Riise.

Old St. Croix –
A piece of Danish rum-history

150 years ago, A.H. Riise put Danish rum from the West Indies on the world map under the trademark “Old St. Croix”. The island of St. Croix – The Garden of the West Indies – was the center of cultivation of sugarcane and the production of sugar in the Danish West Indies from the early 1700s. The by-product molasses was used to make rum. To this day, the heart of our blends continues to be distilled on molasses.

A.H. Riise Pharmacy

The pharmacy was rebuilt after the fire of 1895, now as a two story building. On the top shelves can be seen white porcelain mugs and bottles and jars, all of German origin.
