A.H. Riise XO RESERVE

Haakon Royal Reserve

42% vol.

This blend celebrates the friendship between King Haakon VII of Norway and Albert Riise’s son and successor Valdemar Riise. The drops accommodates a long-expressed desire from rum aficionados from all over the world, as it expands upon the navy tradition by using large quantities of pot still rum. To recreate the ambience of olden-day navy rum we have given the drink a velvet touch and a sweet twist.

Valdemar Riise

Throughout his life, Valdemar Riise was a highly respected man who received numerous official titles. He became Norwegian Consul, and he was made Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1907 and, in 1912, was also awarded the Norwegian Order of Saint Olaf, first degree, for his outstanding national and humanitarian achievements.

Riise’s weird and wonderful creatures

In his search for more knowledge, A.H. Riise found a variety of herbs, plants, and animals. Ophiocoma Riisei is a type of brittle star found on St. Thomas. The brittle stars filter plankton from seawater or feed off carrion. They are described by Dr. Lütken in scientific papers from the Danish Natural History Society in Copenhagen in 1856. Today it can be found on our Haakon Royal Reserve label.
